Music Monday: That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas) by Lyle Lovett

Living a bunch of different places will teach you an appreciation for places that welcome strangers.  There are many things to love about Texas.  But maybe the best is that, even if you’re not from Texas, Texas wants you anyway.

I may have only lived here for four years, and our daughter just touched down for the first time a day and a half ago, but we can still be Texans.

You also have to appreciate the sheer Texan/Tejano chutzpah of lines like “even Moses got excited when he saw the Promised Land.”

That’s Right is off Lovett’s album The Road to Ensenada.

Merry Christmas, y’all.  Hillbilly Highways is on hiatus until next Monday.
