The Country Music Hall of Fame announced Keith Whitley as its newest inductee in the Modern Era Category. The induction is well deserved and welcome, especially around here. Keith Whitley’s music was enormously important at a hard time for me when I first discovered it in college.

Music Monday: Heartland by George Strait
How have I made it over a year without featuring George Strait? He is probably a top-ten all-time country musician for me. Funnily enough, then, my favorite George Strait song is his least George Strait song.
Music Monday: Forever and Ever, Amen by Randy Travis
We used Forever and Ever, Amen for our first dance at our wedding. The music video suggests it wasn’t a terribly original choice. I don’t mind. I love this song. And the music video also suggests it was thematically appropriate given the venue for the ceremony.
